WHAT IS TEACH INDIA?
The Initiative
Teach India is a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative of The Times of India. The initiative is implemented on ground through the partner NGOs. Currently operational in Delhi/NCR, Mumbai, Bangaluru and Pune the initiative focuses on promoting volunteerism and imparting spoken English skills to underprivileged youth to enhance their employability.
The Impact
Over the years, Teach India has created a mass movement across cities where communities of Volunteers, NGO Partners and Employers are working together to truly transform the lives of underserved youth of India.
The Opportunity

Teach India joined hand with American Express to further widen the impact of program, across cities. American Express is coveted to empower the underserved youth by educating them with necessary skills and knowledge. With this partnership driven by common goals of two pinnacle organisations, Teach India is leaving footprints on larger lands of the country.
With a strong result-oriented approach of the Program, the learners not only gain confidence in communication skills but also get job offers immediately after the completion of the course, enabling them to support their education and their family. Job fairs are organized at the end of each cycle, supporting learners in finding jobs to kick-start their career. The learners are placed in organizations of high repute from a variety of sectors, ranging from BPO to Quick Service Restaurants, Tourism & Hospitality to Real Estate, to Insurance & Finance.
The Times Group brought on board British Council as its knowledge partner. Considering the needs of business language, British Council designed a unique experiential learning based 120 hour curriculum for Teach India classrooms. For volunteer teachers, British Council designed another 8 days teacher training program to equip them deliver curriculum in classrooms.
The initiative is implemented on the ground by dedicated partner NGOs, working mostly in underdeveloped urban sections. An important pillar of Teach India in reaching out to the target beneficiaries, the partner NGOs are responsible for organising the spoken English classes, getting the learners in the classrooms, and managing the day-to-day affairs at the teaching centre.
